RICHARDSON, Texas –
Jaela Dejean recorded her first double-double of the season, but the Concordia Texas women's basketball team fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor 79-51 in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament on Friday.
Dejean led the Tornados with 13 points and 10 rebounds but it was not enough against the Cru, who entered the tournament as the one seed from the west division and led from the tip-off.
Mercedes Ellison and
Desiray Davis each had eight points for CTX, scoring 26 points in the paint as a team.
Lindsay Carter shot 50 percent from the field and grabbed four boards as the Tornados outscored UMHB 14-13 in the final quarter, but ultimately came up short 79-51.
Concordia Texas season ends in the semis of the ASC Tournament, their best run in the conference tournament since they won it all during the 2011-12 season.
The Tornados will enter next year without Davis and Dejean, who played in their final collegiate game, but will return with
Kaycie Dunkerley, who had a career-high 30 points in the win over UT Tyler on Thursday and
Mercedes Ellison, who was the team's second-leading scorer.
