BELTON, Texas – Playing in their second game in as many days, the Concordia Texas women's soccer team would battle back from two goals down, but would come up short, dropping a 4-2 decision to Southwestern on Saturday.
Trailing 2-0 for most of the game, despite 11 shots in the first half, the Tornados would begin to make their run in the 75th minute.
After a Pirates foul just outside the box, CTX was awarded a free kick.
Kayla Carlove, who would be a denied a goal earlier in the game, would fire the ball passed the goalie into the right side of the net to cut the deficit in half.
The Tornados would waste no time, as six minutes later, after an errand SU pass,
Pamela Lasprilla would go one-on-one with the goalie, shooting right to find the back of the net and tie it up at 2-all.
The Pirates would respond though, scoring twice in the final seven minutes of the game to go up 4-2.
Late in the game, Carlove would try to record her second goal of the game on another free kick, but SU was there for the save, as CTX fell 4-2.
Up next, the Tornados head to Kerrville, Texas for a matchup with Schreiner on Wednesday at 2 p.m., as they go for their first win of the season.
