Tornados' season ends in ASC Quarterfinals

ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team's 2019 season came to an end on Tuesday, falling 4-0 to Hardin-Simmons in the American Southwest Conference Tournament quarterfinals at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Tornados, making their 10th straight conference tournament appearance, ­faced the tournament's No. 1 seed, the Cowgirls.

Concordia Texas began the game on the attack, recording a pair of shots on goal, but HSU's goalkeeper Haley Foley saved both shots.

In the 14th minute, the Cowgirls broke the scoreless tie with a goal. Hardin-Simmons added another goal late in the half and led 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, the Cowgirls scored two more goals to extend their lead to 4-0.

Concordia Texas sought to cut into the lead late in the half, but Lauren Wenzel's shot on goal was saved as the Tornados fell 4-0 to HSU.

The loss ends CTX's season, who finished the year 4-15, 4-7 ASC in head coach Andy Tunnicliffe's first season at the helm of the program.

The Tornados also say goodbye to their six seniors, Kaycee Moore, Erin Moore, Kayla Carlove, Marissa Cruz, Alicia Pineda and Pamela Lasprilla.
