BELTON, Texas – Nine players at least scored, led by
Kaycie Dunkerley and
Molly Gideon's nine points as the Concordia Texas women's basketball team fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor 72-50 on Saturday.
Dunkerley, who broke the single-season program record for 3-pointers made added to her tally against the Cru, knocking down three buckets from beyond the arc, while also pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
The Tornados would keep it close with UMHB in the first quarter, closing the period out on a 7-0 run and trailed 18-14 after one.
The Cru would extend their lead in the second quarter and the teams headed to the locker room, CTX trailing 39-22.
In the second half,
Payton Berger would come alive on the board, pulling down seven rebounds in the half alone. She would finish with seven points.
The Tornados would outscore UMHB in the fourth quarter 17-16, but it was not enough, falling 72-50.
Next, CTX will return home to Concordia Fieldhouse, where they will host Howard Payne on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
