ABILENE, Texas – After winning the first two contests of the series, the Concordia Texas softball team dropped a 3-0 decision against McMurry on Saturday at Red Bud Park.
Despite the loss, the Tornados picked up the series victory in a key American Southwest Conference matchup and moved to 10-10, 5-7 ASC on the year.
The War Hawks opened the scoring with an unearned run in the third inning on an RBI single through the left side.
The Tornados threatened to answer immediately in the top of the fourth after a single from
Haley Dennett and a double by
Mycahla Howard, but could not capitalize to tie the game.
McMurry added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fourth to make the score 3-0.
Taylor Verinsky threw well in the circle for CTX, tossing 6.0 innings while allowing six hits and one earned run.
Next up, the Tornados will step outside conference play and travel to Georgetown, Texas, to take on Southwestern in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
