Men Tennis roll past Texas Wesleyan 7-2

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team would win two of the three doubles matches and cruise to a 7-2 win over Texas Wesleyan at the Arlington Tennis Center on Thursday.

In the doubles matches, Hoanh Le and Jorge Garcia would fall in a heartbreaker at line one, losing the tiebreak 7-5. Their teammates would pick them up though, winning at line two and three.

Adam Compton and Evan Pena Jr would roll to an 8-4 victory at line two, while Esteban Arredondo and Noah Villarreal would handle business at line three with an 8-3 win.

In the singles matches, CTX would flex their muscles, winning five of the six contests.

Le would be pushed to a tiebreaker in his first set at line one, coming out on top with a 7-5 decision on his way to a straight set win.

Arredondo and Pena Jr., meanwhile, were dominant at line two and four, respectively. Arredondo would lose only one game in a straight set win, while Pena Jr posted a shutout in both sets for win of the day for him.

Garcia and Villarreal would close out the match for the Tornados with straight set wins at line five and six, respectively. Concordia Texas have now won three of their first four matches to open the season.

Next, the Tornados will do double duty on Friday, when they will take on Centenary at 11 a.m. followed by their conference opener against LeTourneau at 4 p.m. with both matches to be played in Longview, Texas.
