Tornados drop home match against McMurry

AUSTIN, Texas – Camille Kempf picked up a win in straight sets in singles play, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas women's tennis team fell 8-1 against McMurry on Thursday at Austin Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Tornados snapped their two match winning streak and dropped to 6-6, 1-2 in American Southwest Conference play this season.

The War Hawks started the match by taking home all three doubles contests by narrow scores of 8-6, 8-6 and 8-4 on lines one, two and three, respectively.

Playing on line four in singles, Kempf (8-4) was able to grab a victory 7-5, 6-3 to give CTX their first match win of the day. The junior from San Antonio, Texas, has now won three straight singles matches and is 6-2 over her last eight matches on the season.

McMurry was not to be denied, however, as they picked up wins in each of the other five singles contests to grab the 8-1 victory.

The Tornados will return to action on Friday with another home match when they take on Hardin-Simmons at 1 p.m. on the campus of Southwestern University.
