LONGVIEW, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team made history on Thursday, opening the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament with a dominating 5-0 win over Louisiana College, the first conference tournament victory in the program's history and advance to the semifinals.

The Tornados, the top seed from the ASC West, faced the four-seeded Wildcats out of the ASC East.

Concordia Texas were unbothered in the doubles matches, winning all three, dropping only two games total.

Joshua Bode and Hoanh Le won their second match as a doubles duo, winning at line one 8-2. Esteban Arredondo, Jorge Garcia and Noah Villarreal, Ethan Espiritu handled their business as each doubles team won 8-0 at line two and three, respectively.

Only two points away from a team victory, Evan Pena Jr. blanked Thomas Hodge in straight sets at line three, while Corbin Hayes shut out Thomas Richard at line six with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, securing the first ASC Tournament win in school history.

The Tornados now move on to the ASC Tournament semifinals, where they will face the Hardin-Simmons, the three seed from the west division, who defeated East Texas Baptist 5-1 in the morning match.

Concordia Texas will take on the Cowboys at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Davis Tennis Courts in Longview, Texas with the winner advancing to the championship match.
