SEGUIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and rolled past Texas Lutheran 7-2 on Friday for their second win in a row.
The Tornados, led by
Cassandra Landeros-Cabrera and
Isabella Wiik at line one, took care of the Bulldogs handily in doubles.
The duo cruised to an 8-1 win over Samantha Stafford and Kaitlyn Enloe, while
Claire Austin and
Kaitlin Stevens handled their business at line two with an 8-1 win as well.
At line three,
Rachel Sweitzer and Natalie Goodman pulled out an 8-6 victory over TLU's Bailey Denton and Liz Perkins to give CTX a 3-0 advantage heading into singles.
In the singles matches, the Tornados secured the team 7-2 victory, winning matches at lines one through four.
Landeros-Cabrera dropped only one set at line one for a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Wiik held off a potential comeback by the Bulldogs' Mary Eby, grabbing a straight set victory at 6-4, 7-5.
Austin and Goodman, meanwhile, picked up straight set wins at line three and four to cap off CTX's win, respectively.
Next, the Tornados will host LeTourneau in its home opener on Feb. 22, at 2 p.m., at the River Place Country Club in Austin, Texas.
