NORMAN, Okla. – Concordia Texas men's golf team's
Ben Balen, coming off his most successful season on the golf course, earned Division III PING All-American honors as the Golf Coaches Association of America released its All-America Teams on Wednesday.
It is the seventh consecutive year a Tornado golfer has been recognized as an All-American as Balen was named to the PING All-America Honorable Mention Team.
For Balen, it is his first-ever All-American honor in his career after playing in a shortened season for CTX.
In five tournaments, playing 12 rounds, Balen recorded a scoring average of 73.17.
He helped the Tornados to a pair of team wins at the UMHB Crusader Intercollegiate as well as the Schreiner Spring Shootout.
At the UMHB Crusader Intercollegiate back on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Balen fired his best 36-hole score of the season, finishing with a 71-75 – 146 scorecard to win the individual title, the second of his career.
Concordia Texas' spring season ended abruptly due to COVID-19, but not before the team won the Schreiner Spring Shootout on March 10 in Kerrville, Texas, where Balen placed inside the top-10, the seven top-10 finish of his career.
