Tornados wrap up season at NCAA West Regional

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Rick Platas and Bianca Bagwell each capped off successful seasons, leading the way for the Concordia Texas Cross Country team as they competed in the NCAA DIII West Regional Championships on Saturday.
 
Platas was the top runner on the men's side, finishing 110th out of the field with an 8k time of 28:02.9 in his second NCAA Regional appearance, while Bagwell made her NCAA Regional debut, pacing the women's runners in 137th place with a 6k time of 28:05.6.
 
As a team, the Tornado men's runners finished 23rd overall, coming in with 671 total points and an average time of 29:23.6.
 
Kamron Loera was the second Tornado to cross the finish line, ending his freshman campaign with a 28:19.5 run and a 119th place finish, and Sam Stewart followed with a time of 29:38.9, good for 140th place.
 
Jacob Ismir clocked in at 30:24.7, ending the race at 150th place. A pair of freshman followed, as Thomas Hughes finished 152nd with a time of 30:32.0 and Nathan Luevano finished 156th after running a 31:39.9.
 
Daniel Bizimia rounded out the CTX runners, finishing 159th after a 33:37.0 run.
 
On the women's side, Meghan Kevil was the other half of the CTX competitors today.
 
Kevil ran to 142nd place, recording a time of 29:52.3 in her first NCAA regional appearance. With only two runners, CTX did not record a team score on the women's side.
 
The West Regional concludes the season for CTX, who ran in seven meets on the year and saw three runners garner All-ASC honors.
