AUSTIN, Texas –
Bailey Tisdale picked up her seventh win of the season with another stellar performance in the circle, and the Concordia Texas softball team defeated Ozarks 2-1 in a low-scoring affair on Saturday, completing the series sweep.
Tisdale suffered one run on four hits and punched out five UO hitters in her fifth complete game of the season. After picking up a pair of wins on the weekend, the sophomore now boasts a 7-4 record to go along with a 2.38 ERA this season.
After two scoreless frames to start, the Tornados' offense struck first in the third inning.
Megan Hooper led off the frame with a single and advanced to second on an error before a sacrifice bunt from
Macey Thompson moved her to third.
Cristina Ayala took advantage of the scoring opportunity, driving a sacrifice fly to right field to lift the Tornados to a 1-0 lead.
In the following inning, the Tornados pushed another run across as
Ashley Hallmark peppered a double to right center and stole third base, setting up an RBI bunt single off the bat of
Anissa Garcia. With four innings in the books, CTX held a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles scratched one run across in the final frame thanks to an RBI groundout, but Tisdale quickly retired the next hitter to thwart Ozarks' comeback attempt and CTX took a 2-1 victory in game three.
Erica Riley picked up a pair of extra-base hits, a double and a triple, and improved to a .414 batting average on the season.
With the series sweep, the Tornados are now 14-8, 8-4 American Southwest Conference and in sole possession of first place in the ASC West Division.
The Tornados will be back on the diamond when they host ASC foe Hardin-Simmons for a three-game set at Tornado Softball Field in Austin, Texas, beginning with a doubleheader on Thursday a 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
