Tornados roll past St. Thomas (TX) 5-2

AUSTIN, Texas – Natalia Goodman and Alejandra Rueda outlasted St. Thomas (TX)'s Asan Atilla and Karissa Guzman 7-4 in the tiebreaker at line two doubles and the Concordia Texas women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-2 win on Saturday at the River Place Country Club.

The Tornados opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles play as the Celts did not have a duo to play at line three.

At line one, Isabella Wiik and Kaitlin Stevens held off UST's Alejandra Lopez and Alyssa Davila, securing an 8-6 victory.

Meanwhile, at line two, Goodman and Rueda headed to a tiebreaker after being knotted up at 7-all. In the tiebreaker, the pair prevailed, winning it 7-4 to give CTX a 2-0 advantage.

In singles, Wiik picked up her second win of the day, take care of business at line one in straight sets. Kaitlin Stevens followed suit at line three, outlasting the Celts' Atilla in a second-set tiebreaker 7-2 to nab the victory.

Emily Hines closed out the victory for the Tornados, steamrolling UST's Anna Ta in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.

Next, Concordia Texas will head into the American Southwest Conference Tournament as the three seed out of the west division. The Tornados will face off against the two seed out of the ASC East, East Texas Baptist, in the quarterfinals on May 6 at 2 p.m. on the campus of Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas.
