Bagwell, Platas pace Tornados at Concordia Classic

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas – Bianca Bagwell and Rick Platas logged the top times for each squad as the Concordia Texas cross country team hosted the Concordia Classic on Friday.
 
The Concordia Classic is the Tornados' second home meet of the year, hosting teams from various divisions and conferences across Texas. The night began with the women's 6k race, and the men followed with an 8k race.
 
Rick Platas and Bianca Bagwell each picked up a new career-best time at the meet, leading the way for their respective sides.

Platas recorded his second top-10 finish on the year, earning ninth place after clocking in at 26:41.0.

Bagwell paced the women's side, running a time of 25:08.9, good for 22nd place.
 
On the women's side, the Tornados placed ninth out of 12 teams.
 
Meghan Kevil was the second CTX runner to cross the finish line, recording a time of 30:21.3 and placing 69th.
Next, Sophia West ran in with a time 30:58.6, placing 74th, and Kristine Regalado and Lauren Rekward finished back-to-back with times of 31:28.0 and 31:40.0, respectively.
 
Kendall Simpson rounded out the squad's finishers, penciling in a time of 33:34.0.
 
On the men's side, CTX finished sixth out of 15 teams.
 
Kamron Loera was the second CTX runner on the leader board, running a 28:13.4, good for 30th place.

Jeremey Longoria notched a 34th-place finish, crossing the finish line with a time of 28:41.0 in his first career 8k race.
 
Jacob Ismir and Thomas Hughes were not far behind, finishing back-to-back in 36th and 37th place with times of 28:52.0 and 28:52.6, respectively.
 
Next, Sam Stewart ran to a 41st-place finish, recording a time of 28:56.0.
 
Nathan Luevano scored a top-50 finish of his own, running a 29:33.4 in his first 8k race.
 
Jonathan Espinoza, also running his firs 8k race, clocked in at 31:08.3, and Miguel Morales followed at 32:44.1, his career best.
 
Dylan Day was the final CTX finisher, recording a time of 37:25.1.
 
With a second home meet in the books, the Tornados will travel to Fayetville, Ark. for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Friday. The women will begin the day at 5 pm, and the men will follow with a race at 5:30 pm.
