ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Hardin-Simmons in a competitive battle that snapped the Tornados' six-match win streak. Junior forward
Kallie Krenz scored her ninth goal of the season at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Thursday.
The Cowgirls outshot CTX 12-6 but only won the shot on-goal battle 4-2.
It was a tale of two halves as Hardin-Simmons controlled possession of the ball for the majority of the first half, while Concordia served as the aggressors in the second frame.
The Cowgirls broke through with a goal in the 21st minute. They then added to their lead with a 41st-minute goal to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.
After winning an entry pass from
Emma Visser, Krenz fired the shot into the back of the net to cut their deficit in half in the 58th minute. The Tornados had a few more opportunities to tie the game, but the Cowgirls would ultimately hold on to the victory.
Concordia Texas will now prep for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 when they host McMurry at 11 a.m. Five seniors will be honored pre-game.
