ROUND ROCK, Texas - It was a historic day for the Tornados as junior midfielder
Melvin Molina (three goals) broke the single season record for assists in a 4-1 win over McMurry. Molina is now up to 11 assists with more games left in the season.
Marco Vazquez tallied two goals, while
Marco Rodriguez Jr. added two assists in what was Senior Day at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Saturday.
Gustavo Hernandez and
Jonathan De La Torre also found the back of the net, and
Richard Aguirre notched an assist in the victory. CTX controlled possession for the majority of the match as they outshot the Warhawks 21-8.
Although the Tornados outshot their opponent 10-3 in the first half, both teams entered the intermission scoreless. Concordia changed that quickly with three goals in the first four minutes of the second half.Â
Aguirre would find De La Torre on a run to add to the scoring barrage and give CTX a 4-0 advantage with just over 25 minutes left to play. McMurry would manage one score in the 79th minute, but the Tornados would cruise to Senior Day win.
Concordia Texas will now take a week off before hosting UMHB in the final regular season match of the season on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
