Men's Soccer Takes Care of Sul Ross

Jonathan De La Torre earned his first career hat trick.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Concordia Texas freshman forward Jonathan De La Torre earned his first career hat trick in a 5-0 victory over Sul Ross. Melvin Molina earned his second consecutive two-assist game at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Saturday.

The Tornados dominated from start to finish as they outshot the Lobos 27-5 (13-3 on-goal). Forwards Theo Givens and Marco Vazquez also scored, and Christian Barillas notched an assist.

After a slow start in the scoring column, CTX scored two goals in the 24th and 25th minute when Molina found Givens and Vazquez on back-to-back plays.

With time running out in the first half, De La Torre capitalized on penalty kick in the 40th minute to give the Tornados a 3-0 advantage heading into the intermission.

De La Torre would continue his hot streak as he scored two more goals in the first five minutes of the first half to help CTX cruise to a 5-0 win.

Concordia will now head to Clarksville, Arkansas next Thursday, Oct. 13 to take on the University of Ozarks at 3:30 p.m.
