SPOKANE, Wash. – In what was a blistering cold day (high of 37 degrees), the Concordia Texas cross country program was represented well by student-athletes
Kamron Loera and
Thomas Hughes at the NCAA West Regional Championships. Loera placed 92
nd with a time of 26:51.1 to finish 92nd, which is almost two minutes faster than his Regional time from a year ago. Hughes posted a time of 29:57.5 to finish 155th in his debut at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex on Saturday.
Loera had a great start as he ran the first 2k in 6:12.9. Consistent throughout the entirety of the race, Loera's best split once on the first 1k meters (3:02.9) and the last 1k meters (3:11.5). His time of 26:51.1 is the program's fastest ever at the NCAA Championships (
Dylan Zoch, 27:20.5 2017).
Hughes' best split was in the first 1k meters with a time of 3:13.3. Finishing strong, he posted a final split of 3:36.4.
The West Regional concludes the season for CTX, who ran in seven meets on the year and saw multiple runners garner personal bests.
