AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and rolled to their third straight victory, an 8-1 thrashing of Schreiner on Saturday at River Place Country Club.
The Tornados were playing their second match in as many days, facing Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mountaineers.
Concordia Texas took care of business in doubles play, winning all three matches.
Esteban Arredondo and
Andres Padilla came out on top of a tiebreaker, winning it 9-7 over SU's Carson Kirk and Dennis Miller to pick up a point.
At line two,
Joshua Bode and
Nico De La Pena only lost one game, cruising to the second win for the Tornados.
Jorge Garcia and
Evan Pena Jr. wrapped up doubles play with an 8-4 victory at line three and CTX headed up 3-0 into singles play.
Bode and Arredondo both won in straight sets at line one and two, respectively. Meanwhile, Pena Jr. and Garcia each posted a shutout for their second wins of the match at lines three and four, respectively.
Padilla walked away with a 6-0, 6-1 at line five to complete the team victory as the Tornados have now won three in a row since dropping their season opener.
Next, CTX will host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 1 p.m., going for four in a row.
