GEORGETOWN, Texas –
Esteban Arredondo and
Andres Padilla teamed up for an 8-7 win at line three doubles and the Concordia Texas men's tennis team won five of the six singles matches, defeating LeTourneau 6-3 on Friday for their fourth win in a row.
The Tornados were playing in their first match since Feb. 19, facing the YellowJackets in a non-conference matchup.
Arredondo and Padilla picked up the lone doubles win for CTX, outlasting LETU's Miles Grubbs and Rodrigo Vazquez for an 8-7 victory, securing the win with a 9-7 decision in the tiebreaker.
The Tornados, despite trailing 2-1 heading into singles, took control of the match.
Joshua Bode evened the match at 2-2, winning at line one 6-2, 6-1 over Vazquez.
Jorge Garcia picked up the second win in singles, defeating the YellowJackets' Nathan Schmidt handily 6-0, 6-1 at line four.
Evan Pena Jr. rolled to a 6-3 decision in set one and secured a victory at line three, walking away with 8-6 decision in a second-set tiebreaker.
Padilla picked up his second win of the day, defeating Andres Urretia 6-4, 6-4 at line five, while
Nico De La Pena wrapped up the match for CTX with a 6-4, 6-4 win at line six.
The Tornados have a quick turnaround, returning to the courts on Saturday to host East Texas Baptist at 2 p.m. at River Place Country Club in Austin, Texas.
