The Tornados came out strong in the first half, trading leads with the Comets, but ended the second quarter on the wrong side of an 8-0 run in the final three minutes. From this point, the Tornados were unable to cut into the deficit, and UT Dallas ran away with the game.

Johnson's first three-pointer came with 4:24 remaining in the period, evening the score at 11-11, and she followed with two more to give the Tornados a 17-16 lead. A Comets' field goal closed out the first quarter, and the Tornados trailed 18-17 after one.

Two free throws from Amari Grace and a Donovan three-ball opened the second quarter, giving CTX a 21-20 lead with 8:17 to go in the half.

Erin Toro's second bucket tied the game at 33-33, but an 8-0 run in the last three minutes of the period saw CTX fall behind. At halftime, the Tornados trailed 41-33.

In the third quarter, the Comets ran off to an 11-3 run before a three from Natalie Velardez brought it to a halt, making the score 52-39 at the 5:14 mark.

Chelsea Cogborn led the way in the third quarter with five points, including an and-one three-point play that brought the score to 57-44 with 2:27 left in the period. She hit two more free throws in the final ten seconds, and the quarter ended with the Tornados behind 62-46.
