NEWBERG, Ore. – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team began their spring break road trip with two matches, splitting the day with a win over Linfield and a loss to George Fox on Sunday.
The Tornados won the first match of the day in a landslide, taking down Linfield 8-1, but fell to George Fox 9-0 in the nightcap.
In match one, Concordia Texas swept doubles play with a win all three matches.
At line one,
Joshua Bode and
Adrian Munguia began the day with a 6-1 victory in their second team-up of the spring.
Estaban Arredondo and
Andres Padilla turned in their seventh straight victory as a duo, marking a 6-3 win at line two.
Jorge Garcia and
Evan Pena Jr. wrapped up doubles play, blanking the LU duo 6-0. It is the pair's second straight victory together.
Bode's second win of the day came at line one singles, where he outlasted Linfield's Rogue Stone in a three-set victory by score of 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
Arredondo continued the winning, toppling Nick Gableman in a straight-sets 6-1, 6-2 victory at line two, and JGarcia played to a 6-1, 6-3 win at line three.
Padilla earned the win at line four, toppling Cody Pickar 4-1, 4-1, and De La Pena earned the final win of the day with a 4-1, 4-0 victory at line five.
In the second match of the day, the Tornados were blanked 9-0 by George Fox.
In doubles play, Bode and De La Pena played a back-and-forth affair at line two, but ultimately fell 8-6.
Bode played a close first set at line one singles, but came up empty, losing 6-3, 6-0.
De La Pena kept it close at line six, but ultimately could not take the win, falling 6-3, 6-1.
Concordia Texas will wrap up the road trip on Monday, taking on Pacific at 1 p.m. in Forst Grove, Ore. for their final match of spring break.
