FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team played the last match of their road trip at Pacific, battling but coming up just short in a tightly-contested 5-4 match on Monday.
In doubles play, the Tornados began the day with a 2-1 lead after winning a pair of matches.
Natalia Goodman and
Kayla Pena picked up the win at line two, playing to an 8-4 victory.
At line three,
Claire Austin and
Emily Hines won a lopsided 8-1 victory, securing the second win of the day for CTX.
In singles play, the Tornados fell in the first four lines but
Kaitlin Stevens and Hines each earned wins at line five and six, respectively.
Stevens won a straight-set victory, taking down PU's Jessica Eligo 6-4, 6-2, and Hines registered her second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Gillian Mead.
At line three, Austin took the match to a third set, but she was unable to come away with the victory, falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
After three matches in the last two days, Concordia Texas will take a short hiatus before returning to the court on March 23. They will host Goucher College for one more non-conference matchup before jumping into American Southwest Conference play.
