Tornados open ASC play with 9-0 victory over McMurry

ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis opened American Southwest Conference play with a dominant win, taking down McMurry 9-0 on Saturday.
 
The Tornados began the day with a sweep of doubles play, taking all three matches.
 
At line one, Joshua Bode and Adrian Munguia teamed up for their third win as a duo this season, edging out the McMurry pair 8-6.
 
Esteban Arredondo and Andres Padilla, who have paired up in every match this spring, earned their eighth win together with a commanding 8-2 victory at line two.
 
Nico De La Pena and Evan Pena Jr. wrapped up doubles play, toppling the McM duo 8-3.
 
Concordia Texas carried their dominant play over to the singles matches, winning all six to secure the 9-0 sweep.
 
At line one, Bode bested McM's Daniell 6-4, 6-3, picking up his seventh win of the spring, and Munguia followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Smith at line two.
 
Next, Arredondo won 6-2, 7-5 over Hogan at line three, and Pena Jr. did not drop a single game, winning his match over Bryant 6-0, 6-0 at line four.
 
Jorge Garcia shut out Cabe in the second set, winning 6-3, 6-0 at line five, and Padilla wrapped up the day with 6-2, 6-2 victory over Arzuaga at line six.
 
Now 1-0 in conference play, the Tornados will continue their ASC schedule with a match at home, hosting Hardin-Simmons at River Place Country Club in Austin, Texas on Saturday.
