AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and continued their winning ways with a 9-0 shutout of East Texas Baptist on Saturday at River Place Country Club for their fifth consecutive victory.
The Tornados returned to the courts for their second match in as many days after picking up a win over LeTourneau on Friday, hosting the Tigers.
Concordia Texas was efficient in doubles play, sweeping all three matches and jumping out to a 3-0 advantage.
Isabella Wiik and
Kaitlin Stevens made quick work of ETBU's Gabbi Hammerbach and Javde Childress, cruising to an 8-3 win at line one.
Kayla Pena and
Natalia Goodman followed with an 8-3 win as well, taking the point at line two.
Trinity Klamecki and
Claire Austin wrapped up doubles with an 8-5 victory over the Tigers' Kylee Mixon and Isabelle Duarte.
In singles, the Tornados remained in control, sweeping all six matches.
Klamecki secured the first singles win of the match, dropping only two games total in a 6-1, 6-1 win at line four. Wiik clinched the match for CTX, grabbing a 6-3, 7-5 victory at line two over Childress.
At line one, Pena outlasted Hammerback, winning a three-set thriller 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to keep the shutout intact. Hines took down Keelie Stamson handily 6-2, 6-1 at line six, while
Kaitlin Stevens finished off the team win with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory at line five.
The Tornados will look to continue their win streak when they face Linfield on March 13 in McMinnville, Ore.
