Tornados fall in both matches on road trip

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 NEWBERG, Ore. – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team played the first two matches of their spring break road trip, falling to Linfield and George Fox on Sunday.
 
The Tornados were unable to pick up a match in the first contest of the day, falling to Linfield 9-0, and fell 7-2 to George Fox in the nightcap.
 
In match one, Kayla Pena and Natalia Goodman fought a back-and-forth battle at line two doubles, but ultimately fell 6-3.
 
At line one singles, Pena kept it close, but ultimately came away empty in 7-5, 7-5 loss.
 
Isabella Wiik forced a tiebreaker in the first set, but she was unable to come away with the win at line two, falling 7-6, 6-1.
 
Trinity Klamecki battled at line five, but fell by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
 
In match two, the Tornados fell 7-2 to George Fox.
 
Klamecki and Claire Austin picked up the first win of the day in doubles play, teaming up for an 8-3 win at line three.
 
Wiik and Kaitlin Stevens played a close match at line one, but ultimately fell 8-6, and Goodman and Pena lost at line two by a score of 8-6.
 
Pena began singles play with a win at line one, besting Danielle Brown in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
 
Wiik kept it close at line two, but was unable to secure the victory, falling 6-4, 6-2.
 
At line five, Klamecki dropped the first set 6-2 but forced a tiebreaker in the second. Ultimately, she lost by way of tiebreaker.
 
Concordia Texas will wrap up their road trip with a final match on Monday, facing off with Pacific at 1 p.m. in Forest Grove, Ore.
