BELTON, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team picked up their second win in a row, cruising to an 8-1 victory at Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday.
After blanking Howard Payne 9-0 on Saturday, the Tornados earned another lopsided victory over the Cru by sweeping doubles play and winning five of six singles matches.
At line on doubles,
Isabella Wiik and
Kaitlin Stevens picked up an 8-7 win by securing a tiebreaker, and
Kayla Pena and
Natalia Goodman won 8-7 by way of a tiebreaker at line two.
Trinity Klamecki and
Claire Austin completed the sweep of doubles play with an 8-3 win at line three.
Pena's second win of the day came at line one singles as she bested UMHB's Burns 6-4, 6-3, and Wiik won 6-4, 6-3 over Harmsen at line two.
Klamecki won in straight sets at line four by a score of 6-3, 6-2, and Goodman earned a straight-sets victory of her own with a 6-3, 6-2 win over McElwain at line five.
Kaitlin Stevens picked up the final victory of the day, cruising to a 6-2, 6-4 win at line five.
Next, Concordia Texas will make up a previously postponed match at Southwestern on April 20, squaring off with the cross-town rivals at 6 p.m.
