GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team took a break from American Southwest Conference Play for a match with cross-town rivals Southwestern, but they fell 0-9 Wednesday.
In doubles play, the Tornados were swept despite a pair of battles at lines one and three.
At line one,
Isabella Wiik and
Kaitlin Stevens won three games but ultimately fell 8-3, and
Claire Austin and
Trinity Klamecki won three games as well at line three, but the duo fell 8-3.
At line one singles,
Kayla Pena took the match to a third set but was unable to come away with a victory, suffering a 6-0, 4-6, 10-3 defeat.
Wiik, at line two, won a pair of games in the first set, but she ultimately fell 6-2, 6-0.
At line five,
Natalia Goodman battled, winning two games in each set, but ended the match with a 6-2, 6-2 loss.
The Tornados will look to bounce back on Saturday, playing their regular season finale at 9 a.m. at Georgetown High School against Sul Ross State.
