Tornados topple LeTourneau, move on to ASC semifinals

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team earned its first American Southwest Conference Tournament win in program history, besting LeTourneau in the quarterfinal match Thursday.
 
The Tornados toppled the Yellow Jackets 6-2, securing the win before the line two singles match was complete.
 
The Tornados began the day with by winning two of three doubles matches, jumping out to an early advantage in the match.
 
At line one, Isabella Wiik and Kaitlin Stevens battled but ultimately fell 8-5.
 
Natalia Goodman and Kayla Pena earned the win at line two, besting the LETU duo 8-3.
 
At line three, Trinity Klamecki and Claire Austin played to a dominant 8-2 victory.
 
In singles play, the Tornados won four of the five finished matches, securing the victory with a final win from Goodman at line five.
 
Klamecki turned in the first win, dominating 6-1, 6-1 at line four.
 
Next, Stevens won a lopsided 6-1, 6-1 victory at line six, recording the second Tornados' win in singles play.
 
Pena turned in the next win, besting Deatherage 6-2, 6-4 at line one.
 
Finally, Goodman's line five victory sealed the victory. She bested LETU's Boulanger 6-4, 6-2.

Wiik was on her way to a possible win at line two after winning the first set 6-3, but the match went unfinished after the win was secured.
 
In the semifinals, the Tornados will match up with UT Dallas, playing the match on Friday at UTD Tennis Courts in Richardson, Texas.
