Tornados sweep Howard Payne 9-0

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team pulled off a 9-0 victory, blanking Howard Payne at Nabers Tennis Center Saturday.
 
The Tornados won all nine matches on the day, marking their third clean sweep victory of the spring.
 
In doubles play, the Tornados began the day with three victories.
 
At line one, Kayla Pena and Natalia Goodman teamed up for their fifth straight win together, taking down the HPU duo 8-5.
 
Trinity Klamecki and Kaitlin Stevens appeared as a team for the first time this spring, taking an 8-3 victory at line two.
 
Claire Austin and Emily Hines competed at line three, winning their third match as a duo this spring with an 8-4 win.
 
In singles play, the Tornados did not require a third set for any of the six victories.
 
Pena earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at line one, toppling HPU's Nave, and Austin lost only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 landslide victory at line two.
 
Klamecki earned her ninth singles victory this season, winning line three 6-3, 6-1, and Goodman dropped only one game with a 6-0, 6-1 win at line four.
 
Stevens dominated at line five, besting HPU's Hernandez 6-1, 6-1, and Hines completed the sweep with a one-sided 6-1, 6-1 victory at line six.
 
Concordia Texas will return to action Thursday, traveling to Belton, Texas to square off with American Southwest Conference foe Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m.
