ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Concordia Texas cross country teams hosted and impressed at the Tornado Watch Invitational at Old Settlers Park on Thursday. The men's team placed third with 75 points, while the women's team came in 4th place with 115 points in the season opener.
On the men's side, sophomore
Kamron Loera had the second-best time of the division III competitors as he paced the Tornados with a time of 17:56.6 in the 5k.
Jacob Ismir,
Samuel Valdez,
Thomas Hughes, and
Aaron Ramos all finished with a 5k time under twenty minutes. Junior
Daniel Bizima rounded out the top-25 at 20:07.7.
Preston Perkins and
Jordon Chappell completed the points scored for CTX with nearly identical times of 25:16.3 and 25:16.5.
For the women's 5k,
Brianna Lopez (26:37.9) and
Alycia Barboza (26:52.8) were the top point scorers for Concordia. Rounding out the field and point scoring for CTX were
Pendo Mugofwa (30:38.8),
Jada Calais (30:51.1), and
Kristine Regalado (30:56.2).
CTX will compete next Friday, Sept. 9 in Houston at the Rice Invitational.
