PLUGERVILLE, Texas - In their final home meet of the season, the Concordia Texas cross country program showed well at the Concordia Classic. The men's team placed in the top half with a seventh-place finish, while the women's team came in 10th at the Northeast Metro Soccer Fields on Friday.
Kamron Loera led the Tornados with a time of 24:51.3, which held up as the best in all the American Southwest Conference competitors at the meet.
Thomas Hughes (26:04.2),
Samuel Valdez (26:20.3),
Jacob Ismir (26:32.5),
Lawson Meiers (27:17.3),
Aaron Ramos (27:27.3), and
Daniel Bizima (29:44.4) all impressed as they each posted times under 30 minutes.
First-year runner
Brianna Lopez once again paced the Tornados on the women's side with a time of 27:48.6.
Alycia Barboza was not far behind when she finished at 30:25.4.
Jada Calais finished with a time of 33:32.6, and
Pendo Mugofwa finished a few places later at 36:15.6. Rounding out times for the CTX women was
Mattison Stayrook at 37:36.3.
Cross country will next head to Fayetteville next Friday, Sept. 30 to compete in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The women will start at 3:15 p.m., and the men will begin at 3:45 p.m.
