AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball dominated LeTourneau University in a 81-67 triumph as Head Coach
Matt Wallis earned win number 101 to become the winningest coach in program history.
Mackenzie Berger powered the Tornados with career-highs of 20 points (6-15 3PM) and seven boards in the CTX Fieldhouse on Thursday.
The Tornados connected on a season-high 14 three-pointers as their bench almost doubled their opponents with 32 points. The Tornados also converted 16 turnovers into 20 points while also pouring in 26 fast break points.
CTX led 8-7 early in the first before
Havyn Perez found
Bailey Andrews for a layup that sparked a 15-4 burst to help CTX carry a double-digit lead into the second. The Yellowjackets cut the deficit to 27-19, but Concordia would answer with another run to push the lead to 40-27.
The Tornados would keep control throughout the second half as their lead ballooned to as much as 18 points in the third quarter. They would ultimately stall any LETU comeback effort as LeTourneau did not come within single digits again in the Tornados' triumph.
Concordia Texas will remain at home to host East Texas Baptist University on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m., as the 2023 Concordia Texas Hall of Fame Class will be honored at halftime.
