BELTON, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team concluded their 2023 campaign in a 2-1 decision at #13 Mary Hardin-Baylor. Sophomore midfielder
Payton Matthews found the back of the net for the Tornados at the Belton High School Stadium on Saturday.
It was an intense battle from the start as both teams combined for 32 shots (18 on goal) and 27 fouls.
There were 15 total shots in the first half, but neither team was able to get on the scoreboard through the first 45 minutes.
The Crusaders notched a pair of goals in the 58th and 65th to gain breathing room. Pressing for a comeback, the Tornados broke through when Matthews fired a rocket in the 84th to cut the deficit in half.
Just a minute later,
Kaley Kaspar launched the potential equalizer but it sailed just far left. This would be the final shot attempt in the match as UMHB would escape with the win.
This now concludes the 2023 season for the Tornados.
