GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Concordia Texas men's cross country junior
Kamron Loera once again reset the record books where he broke his own program record with a time of 24:45.3. What was an overall successful meet overall for the Tornados at the DBU Old Glory Gallop, 13 CTX student-athletes blazed new personal records on Saturday morning.
In the men's race, all eight competitors reached a new plateau and the men's team finished 15th as a unit. Loera crushed his previous record by over a minute as his time placed him 14th overall and first against all other division III runners at the event.
Thomas Hughes clocked in at 25:53.5, while
Matthew Kangas finished in 26:36.8.
Samuel Valdez (27:31.3) and
Dion Arriaga (27:31.8) finished almost simultaneously with
Aaron Ramos right behind them at 27:52.0. Rounding out the men's finishers was
Alexandro Barrera (28:39.8) and
Edward Wells (30:46.9).
In the women's 5k run, the Tornados placed 30th at the loaded field with freshman
Ashley Rivera (21:44.2) leading the charge.
Belkin Vega-Molina was the second Tornado to cross at 22:34.8, while softball superstar
Emily Schmuck crossed the finish line at 24:30.7 in her cross country debut.
Completing the scoring for CTX was
Mackenzie Dixon at 25:03.5 and
Lluvia Rodriguez at 25:48.1.

Concordia Texas has now completed their regular season slate and will next return to Grand Prairie for the ASC Championships on Sunday, October 29th.
