ALPINE, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was outlasted 74-69 on the road at Sul Ross State University. Sophomore guard Jordan Bravo recorded a game & career-high 30 points inside the Gallego Center & is the first Tornado to score 30-plus points in a game since Kaycie Dunkerley scored 31 points on December 3rd, 2018.
The Tornados came out hot with a 10-2 run. The Lobos made up some ground for a 13-9 score, before an and-one finish by Abby Parra pushed Concordia's lead back up to seven. This would spark a 9-2 burst for CTX as Hayla Flowers found Daysha Tijerina on the wing for a three.
The Tornados led by as much as 14 midway through the second quarter, but Sul Ross scored the final seven points of the half to trim the deficit to 38-31 entering the break.
Sul Ross found a rhythm offensively in the third quarter as the trimmed the Tornados' lead to 48-47 with just under two minutes remaining. Bravo would answer with a 5-0 run herself to up the lead back up to six points en route to a 53-49 advantage entering the final frame.
Sul Ross scored the first 12 points in the first three minutes of the final quarter for a 61-53 lead, before CTX answered with Bravo scoring all nine points in a 9-2 run to make it a 63-62 game with 4:16 left.
A 5-0 run by the Lobos would give them space, but the Tornados would cut the deficit back down to three points on two separate occasions. Sul Ross would ultimately knock down their free throws in the final minutes to get the victory.
Concordia Texas will enjoy Christmas break and next resume action with an exhibition at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi on Saturday, December 30th. Tip off is scheduled for 1pm.
