Women's Basketball Downed in ASC Quarterfinal at UMHB

Seniors Chelsea Cogborn and Madi Maxwell posted a team-high 14 points each on Tuesday.

BELTON, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team's season came to a close in a 78-64 loss to UMHB in the ASC quarterfinal. Seniors Madi Maxwell and Chelsea Cogborn dropped 14 points apiece to lead the Tornados inside the Mayborn Campus Center on Saturday.

CTX came out on fire offensive with Maxwell contributing 11 first quarter points as the Tornados led 15-8 with three minutes left in the quarter. The Crusaders staged a comeback and eventually took a 26-24 lead with 7:38 left in the first half.

Their lead would grow to as much as eight points, but Concordia came storming back and took a 33-32 lead following a Jordan Bravo wing three off a feed from Kennedy Donovan.

The Crusaders reclaimed the advantage and upped their lead to 10 points midway through the third quarter, but a 9-0 burst in under two minutes by CTX cut the deficit to one point. With both teams jockeying for position, they entered the final quarter with a 54-52 advantage for UMHB.

The lead changed four times in the first four minutes of the final frame, but the Crusaders ultimately pulled away and prevailed in the final minutes.
