SENGUIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men and women's tennis teams blanked Texas Lutheran University in a pair of non-conference victories. No player was forced into a third set in all 12 singles matches at the Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center on Friday.
Trinity Klamecki highlighted the women's match with an unblemished 6-0, 6-0 score on court six and an 8-3 score with Claire Austin in doubles. Kayla Pena moved to 4-2 in singles action with a win and 3-0 with Natalia Goodman as her partner in an 8-4 decision.Â
Goodman played a competitive 7-5 set, before blanking her opponent 6-0 in solo action. Isabella Cepeda (6-0, 6-1 singles win) and Isabella Wiik (7-5, 6-3 singles win) took care of business as a duo with an 8-5 victory. Finishing out the scoring, Emily Hines posted an identical 6-2, 6-2 win in singles play.Â
Joshua Bode, Adrian Munguia, Esteban Arredondo and Daniel Beckles did not allow their opponents to win more than one game in a set in singles action. Jorge Garcia won in two sets with the second set finishing in a close 7-5 final. Evan Pena Jr. jumped out to a 6-0 victory in the first set, before finishing his match with a 6-3 triumph.
Bode and Munguia were impressive in a 8-1 doubles victory on court one. Joeri Bregman and Estaban Arredondo swept their matchup, while Daniel Beckles and Andres Padilla closed out their opponents with an 8-5 win.
The Tornados will now immediately head to Longview, Texas where they will face LeTourneau at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4th.
