LEANDER, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's and women's tennis teams bounced Hendrix College as both teams have now reached a nine-match win streak. The women won 8-1 and the men won 7-2 at Leander High School on Thursday.
In women's play,
Isabella Wiik and
Kaitlin Stevens kicked things off with an 8-5 triumph in the first doubles match. The duos of
Kayla Pena /
Isabella Cepeda and
Claire Austin /
Trinity Klamecki each outlasted the Warriors with a pair of 8-7 victories to go up 3-0.
Pena (6-4, 6-3) and Cepeda (6-2, 6-4) both won in singles action to clinch the victory. On line three,
Emily Hines was bested 6-2, 6-2. Klamecki won game one 6-1, before earning a win by retirment. Stevens posted the loan game sweep on the day with a 6-4, 6-0 win, while Austin tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win in the final match.
In men's doubles,
Joshua Bode and
Adrian Munguia started the night with an 8-3 triumph.
Estaban Arrendondo and
Joeri Bregman bested their opponent 8-2, while
Andres Padilla and
Daniel Beckles was outlasted 8-5 in the finals doubles match of the evening.Â
Bode won his ninth singles match in a row with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Padilla (6-1, 6-2) and Arrendondo (6-2, 6-1) won by nearly identical scores on lines two and three.
Jorge Garcia was defeated in a competitve 6-4, 7-5 match, while Beckles (5-7, 6-3, 10-3) and
Evan Pena Jr. (5-7, 6-1, 10-2) both posted comeback victories in emphatic fashion.Â
Concordia Texas will now head to Waco, Texas for a showdown with UT-Dallas this Saturday, March, 25th at 2 p.m.
