Men's Tennis Surges Past UT-Dallas in ASC Semifinal

The Tornados will now take on Hardin-Simmons in the conference final.

RICHARDSON, Texas- The Concordia Texas men's tennis team outlasted the UT-Dallas by a score of 5-3 in the ASC conference semifinal. Esteban Arredondo clinched the win at line five in singles to advance CTX to the championship at the UTD Tennis Courts.

The Tornados were able to get spinning in the first match of the doubles with Joshua Bode / Adrian Munguia catching the win, 8-1. CTX duo of Daniel Beckles and Andres Padilla secured the victory in line 3 of doubles, 8-3, to give Concordia a 2-1 advantage heading into singles action.

Bode came on top at line 1 in singles 6-4, 6-2 to bring CTX overall lead 3-1. Later in the afternoon after the Cowboys tied the match, Padilla outlasted his opponent in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to help CTX reclaim the lead at 4-3. With the final two matches drawing near a close in the their third sets, Arredondo clinched the decisive win at line five to move CTX to the championship 3-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Concordia Texas will now focus on getting ready for the championship match against Hardin-Simmons tomorrow, April 22 at 1 p.m.
