Men's Tennis Upended at #19 Southwestern

Joshua Bode claimed two victories in the match.

Georgetown, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's tennis team fell in a 6-3 decision at #19 Southwestern University. Grad senior Joshua Bode shined as he accounted for two of the wins for the Tornados at the Marvin D. Henderson, Sr. Tennis Courts on Tuesday.

Bode and Adrian Munguia kicked things off with an 8-5 doubles victory for the Tornados. The Pirates tied up the match with an 8-6 victory over Esteban Arredondo and Joeri Bregman, but the duo of Andres Padilla and Daniel Beckles claimed an 8-6 win to put CTX back up entering singles play.

Bode outlasted his opponent in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 10-5) to push the Tornados' lead to 3-1 on line line. Munguia threatened to push the lead up to 4-1 after winning the first set on line two, but he ultimately was bested by a score of 10-7 in the tie breaker. As action progressed, Southwestern would pull away in the non-conference duel by winning the remaining singles matches.

Concordia Texas will now return home for the regular season finale where they will host UMHB next Saturday, April 15th. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
