ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team was upended by a score of 3-0 against Cal Lutheran University. The match was deadlocked 0-0 at halftime, until the Regals pulled away in the second half at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Wednesday.
The action was fast paced early as junior goalkeeper Lora Tresco anchored down with two breath-taking saves in the first 10 minutes.
CTX also had two prime opportunities in the first half when Patricia Heckendorn fed Kaley Kaspar a pass for a shot that just missed the mark on the right side in the 22nd minute. Later in the 35th, Kallie Krenz fed Maddie Oberholtzer with a through pass before Oberholtzer's shot narrowly missed as well.
Out of the halftime intermission, Cal Lutheran struck with two goals in the first eight minutes. With both teams jockeying for the third goal, Oberholtzer powered a shot in the box that smacked off the top of the crossbar for a goal kick. The Regals would then net another goal midway through the half to secure the victory.
The Tornados will now head to Victoria, Texas to take on Houston-Victoria this Saturday, Sept. 9th at 2:30pm.
