Women's Soccer Bows Out at SCAC Semifinal

Falynn Pyterek netted a goal for the Tornados on Friday.

HOUSTON, Texas - In what was their first season as member of the SCAC, the Concordia Texas Tornados were bested in the conference semifinal by a score of 2-1 against Texas Lutheran. Senior midfielder Falynn Pyterek netted the lone goal for the Tornados at SaberCats Stadium on Friday.

In what was an even and aggressive match, the teams were nearly identical with shot attempts (CTX: 11 shots (nine on goal), TLU: 9 shots (three on goal).

The Bulldogs struck first with a goal in the 16th minute. That was the only goal in the first half as both team stiffened defensively.

The Tornados were the aggressors offensively in the second half as 10 of their 11 shot attempts came in the second. The Bulldogs, however, would go up 2-0 in the 52nd. Pyterek would then blast her goal in the 71st to keep CTX alive, but Texas Lutheran would hold on for the victory.

This now concludes the 2024 campaign for the women's soccer team. Thank you to the players, coaches, friends, family, and fans of this amazing team.
