BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Concordia Texas tennis program kicked off the 2024 spring campaign in convincing fashion. The men's team blanked Howard Payne 9-0 at the Nabers Tennis Center on Saturday.
In doubles play, the teams of Joshua Bode / Adrian Munguia & Esteban Arredondo / Kishan Kersten churned out 8-2 victories on lines one and two. Joeri Bregman & Chase Scholz pushed Concordia's lead to 3-0 with an 8-1 triumph on the final game of doubles.
Bode cruised to a straight-sets victory on line one, while Munguia won the second line 6-2, 6-0. Scholz (6-1, 6-2) & Kersten (6-3, 6-0) had a fine spring debuts to give CTX a 7-0 advantage.
Daniel Beckles won line five 6-0, 6-2. Hunter Green had the match of the day where he overcame a 6-4 loss in set one & responded with a 6-0, 10-8 comeback to secure the sweep.
Concordia Texas will now have time to prepare before traveling to San Antonio to face Trinity next Friday, February 16th at 4pm.
