MARSHALL, Texas - In what was a historic ASC Tournament for the Tornados, the Concordia Texas softball team reached the ASC Softball Tournament Championship series for the first time since 2000. The Tornados were the first ever team to enter the tournament as the sixth-seed and make it to the championship series at Jason Bell Park.
CTX defeated LeTourneau by a score of 5-4 in the semifinal, and was bested by 8-0 East Texas Baptist on Saturday. A quartet of Tornados in Kylie Denaro, Addison Lehew, Kylie Pavlicek, & Mayson Post earned ASC All-Tournament honors.
vs. LETU: W, 5-4
In other than a combined inning of action, the majority of the ASC semifinal was a defensive duel. Both teams were scoreless through the first two and a half innings, until LeTourneau scored four runs in the third.
The Tornados would then immediately respond in the top of the fourth when Pavlicek put the ball in play and Kylie Kirk & Madeline Velasquez cut the deficit in half. Later in the same inning, a Megan Hooper RBI scored Molly Olivarez to make it 4-3.Â
Concordia would then claim the lead when Pavlicek & Emily Schmuck capitalized and scored on a pair of Yellowjackets' errors. Maintaining their one-run lead, Post & the Tornados defense would only allow three runners on base as they would go on to secure their spot in the ASC Championship.

vs. ETBU: L, 8-0Â
The Tigers led 4-0 after putting up a pair of runs in each of the first two frames. The Tornados threatened to do damage after back-to-back singles by Denaro & Kirk with only out in the top of the third, but ETBU would hold on to preserve the advantage.
East Texas Baptist would then post four runs in the bottom of the fourth to push their lead to 8-0. After a scoreless top of the fifth by CTX, the Tigers would claim the run-rule victory to win the ASC title.Â
This now concludes the 2024 campaign for the Concordia Texas softball team. Thank you all to the families, friends, & supporters of the Tornados this season.
