BOX SCORE LISLE, Illinois - The Concordia Texas volleyball team was downed in a 3-1 decision against Wartburg College in the season opener. Junior Selena Cooper posted a double-double in day one of the Benedictine University Classic on Friday.
Set one was tightly contested as both teams was tied 26-26. The Tornados would tally the next two points with a kill by Mia Atkins & an ace by Cooper.
Concordia trailed 15-14 in set two, before a 4-0 burst gave the Eagles a little breathing room as they tied the series at 1-1 with a 25-20 win.Â
The two teams found themselves once again tied late at 23-23, but the Eagles claimed the third set by scoring the last two points. Wartburg would then pull away for a 25-13 victory in the final set.
Concordia Texas will now have a quick turnaround where they will take on MSOE Saturday morning at 10am & the host team Benedictine at noon.
