AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team's late rally fell just short of a comeback in a 88-80 decision at Trinity. Joey Rarimez posted team-highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds on Sunday.
Both teams were tied 10-10 when a two straight buckets by the Tigers gave them a five-point lead with 11:47 left in the first half. With both teams going back-and forth, a putback layup by Ramirez made it a 38-32 game heading into the intermission.Â
After a layup by Aaron San Miguel made it a 43-39 score with 16:26 left, the Tigers would surge to a 54-40 lead two minutes later. Late in the second with 5:44 remaining, Concordia would rally back to cut the deficit down to 79-76 with Evan Butts finding San Miguel for another bucket at the 2:11 mark.Â
With the game hanging in the balance and the Tigers up by four with just a minute remaining, Trinity put the game away with a basket late in the shot clock.Â
