Strong Second Half Propels Women's Basketball Past Southwestern

Taysie Trejo posted a game-high 21 points, while Lynn Bardawil collected career-highs of 12 points and seven rebounds.

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team used a strong third quarter surge to take down Southwestern University by a score of 67-56. Taysie Trejo led all scorers with 21 points, while Lynn Bardawil collected career-highs of 12 points & seven rebounds inside the Robertson Center.

The Tornados jumped out to an 8-2 lead midway through the first quarter. The Pirates would respond by cutting the deficit down to 19-17 at the 7:35 mark of second quarter, but this would be the closest they would get for the remainder of the game as CTX carried a 27-23 advantage into the break.

A 15-4 burst that was capped by an Ellie Haas three gave the Tornados their largest lead at 42-27. Fighting back, Southwestern made it a single-digit game at 54-45 with 5:30 left in the game. They would come as close as 60-54 with one minute remaining, but Trejo would knock down a free throw to make it a three-possession game and help complete the wire-to-wire victory.
