Women's Soccer Blasts Schreiner

Maddie Oberholtzer scored twice as the Tornados notched a season-high four goals.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team had their best outing of the season so far with a 3-1 victory over Schreiner. Maddie Oberholtzer scored twice as the Tornados notched a season-high four goals at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Friday.

Concordia jumped on the Warhawks eary with a goal in 10 seconds when a saved shot by Emma Payne bounced off the keeper and to the foot of Oberholtzer for her first goal.

CTX would then go up 2-0 in the 25th after Shelby Jones crossed to Cecilia Escobar who fired into the back of the net. The Mountaineers would cut their deficit in half with a goal just seconds before the intermission.

Could would go back up two goals in the 65th when a corner kick would result in a shot attempt from Payton Matthews that was saved before Karis Hickey finding the goal.

Concordia would then earn their fourth goal in the 77th with their second-set piece goal of the match when Haley Lopez lobbed the ball into the box and found the hip of Oberholtzer to help Concordia surge past McMurry.

Concordia Texas will next host McMurry this Sunday, October 19th. Kick off is set for 5pm.
