Men's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw in Final SCAC Regular Season Match

The Tornados record their third consecutive shutout in a defensive stalemate.

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's soccer team fought to a 0-0 draw against Texas Lutheran in their final regular season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchup on Friday evening at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. Behind a composed performance from goalkeeper Leonel Cuellar (4 saves), CTX posted another shutout, holding off a persistent Bulldogs attack.

The match opened with both sides trading early chances. Texas Lutheran's Evan Pacheco and Raymond Palmer each tested Cuellar in the 19th minute, but the senior keeper stood tall with back-to-back saves. CTX responded with a flurry of substitutions and a corner kick in the 29th minute, followed by a Bryan Rios shot that sailed wide.

In the 33rd minute, Edmond Elone nearly broke the deadlock with a low strike to the left post, but a team save by TLU kept the score level. The Tornados continued to press, earning multiple corners and forcing fouls from the Bulldogs, but couldn't convert.

The second half saw more aggressive play from both teams. Palmer led TLU with five shots, including a dangerous effort in the 61st minute that Cuellar deflected away. CTX's Tyler Kenny and Steven Dolan each fired off attempts, with Kenny's 79th-minute shot rattling the left woodwork in one of the game's closest calls.

The match grew increasingly physical late, with yellow cards issued to CTX's Ayden Hildreth (83') and TLU's Cristiano Perez (78'). Despite 19 combined shots and 13 corner kicks between the teams, neither side could find the back of the net.

Concordia will now turn its attention to postseason play. Stay connected with CTX men's soccer by following @ctxathletics on social media and visiting athletics.concordia.edu.
